A. Fruit!

A pumpkin develops from a flower and contains seeds, which makes it a fruit. It just happens to look fabulous on your front porch, too!

A Little Pumpkin Spice for Your Day ☕

Pumpkin spice latte topped with whipped cream and cinnamon, beside autumn pumpkins

Sweater optional. Cozy vibes required.

Makes 1 generous mug • About 5 minutes

What You’ll Need

  • 1 cup milk of your choice
  • 2 tablespoons plain pumpkin purée
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup, or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1–2 shots espresso, or ½ cup strong brewed coffee
  • Whipped cream and a pinch of cinnamon, optional

Let’s Make It

  1. In a small saucepan, whisk together the milk, pumpkin purée, maple syrup, and pumpkin pie spice.
  2. Warm over medium-low heat, stirring until hot. Don’t let it boil.
  3. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla. Whisk or froth for a little extra fluff.
  4. Pour the espresso or coffee into a large mug, then add the warm pumpkin milk.
  5. Top with whipped cream and cinnamon if you like. Sip, smile, and enjoy!

Little latte tip: Use plain pumpkin purée, rather than sweetened pumpkin pie filling. Prefer a caffeine-free treat? Use decaf coffee or skip the coffee for a cozy pumpkin steamer.
